asian mini-mart and other quests of late
My melbourne trip was quite the fun. It's really easy to sum up quickly but I'm pulling the my-blog-my-rules line, and giving a step by step run down. But feel lucky in that you were going to get in detail diagrams and pictures illustrating various aspects of my weekend, but Jasper doesn't have a MS Paint alternative. Well, Adobe Illustrator but thats going high-tech and beyond my knowledge. So therefore, no diagrams or pictures. Photos though! I'm not very good at taking the tourist shots. Or even happy snaps. I secretly hate people who take photos. It's such a 'What are you doing?!' response. Half the time there's no point. And the pouting scares me. So I try not to subject others to this treatment. But I took a couple :)
DAY 1. Papa rushes me out the door. I almost forget my ticket ( as in give me the keys, I forgot something important, I know we're in the car already, it's REALLY important ). I get there with LOADS of time. They say get there 2 hours before so i figured an 1/1/2 would be fine. And get there with 2 hours. Cool? anyhoo... Airport. People start asking me questions. Do I look like a frequent flier? WTF? don't ask me! Airport breakfast alone was surprisingly good. Then I bought myself a book :) One of the Charlaine Harris one's I am missing.
Then I got on this plane. The one in the front, not the red one. I was mad excited by this stage. I love flying. I was the jittery kid waiting at the gates of Disneyland and everyone else looked bored or terrified. And then flying got more cool points because I had a window seat. And then everything crashed and burned because I was put next to a small child. And small child's sibling next to him. And the sibling felt the need to fake scream. TERRIBLE. Get there, get picked up. Realise why I miss my aunt so much. She's just so frikin awesome. And my little cousins are pretty adorable. Right, and then I ditched them for Rach.
See the child in the pink dress? MOST ANNOYING CHILD EVER. And wearing crocs. Now you agree with me.
Got on a train at this station. Trains in Melbourne are fucked. They are so confusing. The screens suck, there's no maps, the trains only have one level and therefore so much less seating and they only tell you the final destination. LAME. Anyhoo, after a while of 'where are you? where am I? WHATS GOING ON!?', Rach and I got on a tram. Missed our stop. Walked around for long time. Found the missing asian mini-mart. Consumed cake. Marvelled at trippy owl backbacks. People watched at Federation Square. Twas awesome. I quite like Melbourne. There's some pretty cool people there ( I'm judging by their shoes. I think it's a pretty good indicator ). Yeah. So Rach had to be back to the boarding house by 9.30 so I got my aunt to pick me up because she offered and I already hated the trains with an acute intensity. But it was cold and I didn't want to wait outside in a foreign city... Ok, it was only the cold bothering me but I didn't want to sound completely hopeless. Anyway, avoiding the cold in a hotel foyer. They had awesome chairs. I was tempted to take a picture but I already felt odd enough that I was sitting in a random hotel. And then car trip back. Yip Yip.
DAY 2. Uncle and small ones took me to VIC markets ( YEAH, one more down! ). This is my little cousins in the car. Iris is pretend yawning. She's such a drama queen, it's hilarious. I really hope she grows out of the 'long hair and pink are my favourites' stage. Anyway. Markets. They're amazing. I could literally spend hours in there. I did spend hours in there. More hours then. They have fabulous cheese :) and clothes and shoes and jewellery and STUFF. Oh, yeah and wigs.
This is my cousin in a pink wig. Isn't she adorable?? NAWWW. I tried on this punk rocker blue crop style wig. Twas rad. But 50$. And it made my eyebrows look weird. So no extra blue hair for me. YUP. Left markets and Rach. WHAT ELSE DID I DO ON SATURDAY? darn memory, letting me down. Oh yeah. I found out there was a bathroom in my room. An en suite. I didn't explore my room at all. Woops.
DAY 3. I went to Danish school! It was fun. I felt so awkward though. I hardly understood anything. I was a sheep puppet in my aunts play. All I said was "yah". Which is Danish for "yes". EVERYONE WAS BLONDE. And then I watched Iris' class. They sang a song about a bear and then got chased. I got cranky at the feral kids. Then we went to ikea and marvelled at the marvellousness that is ikea. And then back to their home in Sunburry.
In the afternoon I had an intense desire to shop. So I took their other car ( i forgot to take a pic of the outside. SORRY! and it was amazing too ) and went down to the local shops and laughed hysterically at their sad excuse of shopping. Which was all closed anyway.
Flower buying then illegal photo taking of investment property for parents ( it wasn't really illegal, just felt that way. Empty house, no one around, taking pics and trying not to fall over on uneven soil ). I managed to get around by following a map. That's fucking amazing. That night, after dinner, little cousin Henry, who is only 18 months, was eating a yogurt. Which is mostly boring but he had the spoon in his mouth, and then was moving it up and down while watching it cross eyed. He looked so much like a chameleon. NAWWW.
DAY 4. Plane home! Which was hilarious because we were running extreme late. And it was my aunts birthday. And I got to the airport with literally minutes to spare. Then experienced the worst tasting cookie in the universe. Got asked more questions about flying and airports. Didn't get a window seat. And the woman next to me had fuzzy hair so I couldn't even see past her to the window. I've never been surprised by landing before. Yup. And then I went straight to uni. With my suitcase. SO MUCH FUN. ( this was where I would include illustration of how the size of my suitcase compared to the guy on the train this morning. He made me feel so much better ).
Ok, so I get to cross off travel to a new place and the market one, and I went two days without a computer ( I know, I'm still alive, crazy, right? ). This makes me happy.
The End.
This just reminded me of a bunch of guys from school. Which made me laugh. The 'gabba' bit. YUP. MuchLove.

what was up with that?!
SUPER LIST UPDATE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! not really. I just haven't done this in a while. I haven't even crossed anything off. Now I'm just putting it down, before it even got a chance. My god, girl, STOP IT. Yeah, I just realised I'm in one of those moods where I'm being a bit of a spaz. Ah well, enjoy.
First on the list is 43). Learn to speak danish. I started listening to the podcasts. The first one was awesome. I can now say hi and bye formally and informally. And the second one was all about ordering coffee. I do truly love iced coffee. But that's as far as the love goes. Normal coffee is just used for pulling all-nighters. Line drawn. But I figured I'd hold out and listen so I learn how to ask for things from coffee shops. SHE SPOKE SO FAST. Change from oh look repeat this one word three times to repeat this REALLY long sentence. That I said really fast. That I won't break down to manageable chunks. *cue evil laughter*. I haven't listened since. All I remember is "yava got be-a-man cofi, tuk". That's right. I'd like some coffee. In my version of danish. I bet you feel smarter. Unless you are danish. In which case I bet you feel insulted. Or like giggling. Either way.
I have tried new recipes for 45). It was good fun. Last tuesday H came over and helped me cook veal mushroom something ness. And when I say help I mean, basically, I 'directed'. As in, looked confusingly at the recipe and ate bits of mushroom. So it doesn't really count as trying new recipe. But this tuesday I cooked alone and made a mess and didn't have all the ingredients but put gnocchi something something rather on the table. Papa loved it. I wasn't hungry. Mother dearest and Munchkin didn't like it. But still, new recipe. Which I'll write up later when I next need to procrastinate.
Last saturday I went to the city again. I thought I was getting better. I thought I was at the stage where I could walk around and not feel completely lost. Turns out I was lying to myself. I had no idea where we were. But I didn't really care tbh; only the 'crap, you'll never cross 48). off' bit of caring. But yes, much learning to be had. done? Much learning, all the same.
I wanted to get my tattoo for 55). this saturday. I was mad excited for it. Bout frikin time. But then A trips me out by saying I'm meant to research the place I want to get it done at first. In depth research. About artists and their style and the time they take and other people's opinions. SHITE. I didn't want that. I wanted a vague air of teenage immaturity to it. I didn't want to it to be super planned. If I didn't feel comfortable in a place I wouldn't get my tat there. Simple as that. But now I feel like I'm being irresponsible if I don't. And I really don't want an "I-told-you-so" moment. GRRR.
This is already crossed off but for 60). right, my 'free hugs' t-shirt? NO ONE WANTS MY HUGS. People will tell me about their lung cancer and three wives and daughter and allergy to penicillin, but I don't get hugs! I'm wearing it to the next drunken party. Drunk people love hugs, right? I hope so. Otherwise I class the shirt as a fail. And I don't know if that means I have to redo 60).
Boring one. 68). Back up computer one. I just put all the important stuff onto Jasper so back up successful. Woo. Go team.
Jasper makes me feel like I type faster. It's the new shiny-ness for sure but I'm just going to check, ok? I shall be typing about Aesop's fables for 3 mins. If there is an excessive amount of punctuation I will throw something. DUDE. They updated the site. And I can't remember how I went last time. But! my typing speed is now 45 words per minute but I made mistakes so they averaged me down to 39 words per minute. I'm on the higher end of average. This shouldn't make me so happy. Not quite 80 wpm for 69). Im beginning to think that that was much too ambitious.
I BOUGHT PLANE TIX TO MELBOURNE!!! You have no idea how hard it was to contain that so as to maintain a chronological flow. Damn OCD. I get to visit family, visit Rach ( I still haven't gotten her letter. I will throw things at the postman or woman ) and cross something off my list. I'm absolutely positive I can find a place in Melbourne I haven't been to before so I can cross off 79). YAY. But I'm more excited about visiting people. Obviously. And flying. I love flying so much. Did I mention, YAY!?
And lastly, at house sitting place there was a double bed. Twas amazing. But odd. I'm so ridiculously not used to it. And now Xander seems really small ( If the naming of inanimate objects has struck you as odd, i apologise. I enjoy naming things ). When I get to cross off 101). there will be some mixed feelings. Single beds leave so much more room in the room. But that's the only advantage I can think of.
I had other news. Random bits of crap. The title of this blog is reference to todays garfield comic. Go forth and find. I got a hair cut. No it's not dramatic or purple or shaved. It's just slightly shorter. I'm planning to redo the blue tomorrow. I kind of want to go blonde now. Why can't I make a decision and stick to it!?! I'm trying to cut the word 'like' out of my vocabulary. I use it excessively. It's pathetic. And so teenage-girl. So it shall stop. And I'll sound classy. haha.

But I surely don't.
so yeah for mondays. No. I can't even fake enthusiasm for mondays right now. What I can be enthused about is tuesdays. YEAH FOR TUESDAYS. I will sleep in. I will wash my clothes ( which doesn't sound thrilling but having clean clothes to wear keeps me happy ). I will earn me some cash ( which I will immediatly spend on textbooks ). I will be home for dinner; not on a too cold, slightly weird smelling train. I'm excited :) well, relieved is more acurate but still. YEAH TUESDAYS. It was a long day today. I was so close to blogging at uni today. It will happen. And it will be EPIC. But yesh, all the computers in the library were taken. Grr Face.
I havn't updated for a while becuase I'm a lazy slob who has actually had somewhat of a social life this past week. Nuts, right?! haha. I drank in celebration of finishing febfast, completely defeating the purpose in the process, but what the hell. I went to an internet cafe to kill zombies. There wasn't much zombie killing involved. CoD is a strange game that I'm not that great at. Actually, I'm downright crap, but that didn't stop me. I went to an 18th in the middle of no where, which was quite the fun. I walked a ridiculously long way to pick up a not drunk T, getting blisters in the process.
I changed a tire :) T had a complete flat. So say there are slightly flat tires, and then there are dead tires which just can't be saved. This tire was beyond dead. It was the rotting corpse of flat tires. So he bought a new one, and I got to change it. Twas quite the cool except for the fact it was raining. And I realised that as much as I want to play the independant, can-do woman card, I simply don't have the arm strength for lifting a tire in and out of the boot. So, in case of emergency ( ie. flat tire when I'm alone ) I will stand next to my car looking confused and pretty and hope that someone with actual muscles and not sad excuses for arms pulls over and helps me. But I def get to cross off 36). now.
I've gone out of order. It flowed that way. Whatever. Moving on, I'm hoping to cross 2). off soon. Alice in Wonderland is out at the moment and the person I was going to see it with ditched me for someone else so I figure I'll go see it alone. Plus, I have a free ticket at the moment. Methinks the universe is screaming for it. So I shall respond. If I get around to it. It's all a bit needs and not wants at the moment, which is a lie actually but I'm sleepy and right now it feels that way.
Uhm, 46). is odd I know. I really like cookies, ok? I thought I'd found the perfect cookie recipe and I've basically memorised it by making it so many times but I've been given so much criticism ( they need more sugar, they're not solid enough or some crap. I think they're crazy. ITS A COOKIE GODDAMMIT, JUST EAT IT ) I've realised they probs arn't the best ever. But I've been given another recipe to try so that's rather exciting. And I get cookies out of it, so it's not even a chore, AND I can cross it off the list for this month. Win, Win, Win.
Now I'm left with two excuses ( I can't think of a better word for them ) For 78). and 79).. I am working for family members; just cleaning and general household ness, for cash. It's technically a paid job. TECHNICALLY. It's the fact that I have to include technically that stops me from crossing it off. Same with 79).. For the 18th in the middle of no where, I drove there. Through the frikin Galston Gorge. EWW. It's such an achievement for me I desperately want to cross something off the list for it. But I'm pretty sure I've been through there before, just not with me driving. So, TECHNICALLY, I went to a new place but really I'm cheating. So when I get close to the end of 1001 days and these are still both on the list, I can cross them off because I've noted it here, ok?
I'm no longer making sense. Probs shouldn't have done this now. Ah well, more fun, yes?? no wait, random fact, NeverShoutNever! is an amazing band but not if you're in a bad mood because the cutesy just makes you want to stab something. Trouble is an amazing song everyone should listen to because... I said so? Well, really, I just like recommending the stuff I'm currently loving.
